Hirochi Robaina is partnering with La Palina Cigars, according to an announcement made on the company’s Facebook page on Friday. His role has not yet been announced, nor has a cigar project for the immediate future. Bill Paley, founder of La Palina Cigars, tells halfwheel that Robaina is not an employee of the company, but rather the two will be working on new brands in the future. “I’m thrilled…I think it’s going to be a great collaboration,” Paley said. The move comes in advance of the IPCPR Convention and Trade Show, which kicks off July 17 in New Orleans, La. and just about a year since last year’s trade show, where Robaina made his U.S. debut with Cubanacan, who was producing the HR cigar. Robaina spent a good portion of the past year touring the U.S. in support of the release. It remains to be seen what will happen with that cigar, but the trademark for HR 1845 is registered to Cuba Tianzhiyuan Robaina Cigars Co., Limited, with a listed correspondence address in Houston, Texas.
