At last year’s IPCPR convention and trade show, Guayacan showed off its sophomore release—the Guayacan Maduro.  There was one problem with that release, it was never released. “The cigar that I show up last year I couldn’t keep the manufacturing of that, because of problem with tobacco consistency,” said Noel Rojas of Guayacan. So after a one-year delay, Rojas will once again show off the Guayacan Maduro, this time, a cigar that is already waiting in a warehouse in the U.S. A Mexican San Andrés wrapper covers the Guayacan Maduro; underneath is a blend of Nicaraguan tobaccos including corojo 99 and a hybrid corojo and criollo-seed. Four sizes are planned—Toro (6 x 52), Gordo (6 x 60), Corona Box Press (6 x 42) and Robusto (5 x 50). Pricing is set between $7 and $9 and the cigars will be sold in boxes of 20. In addition to the Guayacan Maduro, the company will also show off its Sabor de Esteli. Rojas has told halfwheel the Sabor de Esteli Maduro will also use a San Andrés wrapper. Guayacan is distributed by House of Emilio. The cigars are produced at Rojas’s Tabacalera Aromas de Jalapa factory in Nicaragua.
