Leaders in Smithsburg, Md. have passed a voluntary smoking ban for the town’s parks, as the five members of the town council unanimously approved by the proposal during its meeting on Tuesday night. While Councilman Craig McCleaf inquired about creating designated smoking areas instead of imposing an outright ban, the council did not act on his request, as reported by Herald Mail Media. The ban goes into effect immediately. Smithsburg is home to approximately 3,000 residents.
