The Kansas City metro area has become a hot bed of cities increasing the minimum age to purchase tobacco products from 18 to 21 years old, and on Monday night another city jumped on board. The Leawood, Kan. City Council unanimously approved the increase during its meeting on Monday night according to a report from KMBC-TV. A start date for the increase was not immediately made available. Leawood is home to approximately 32,991 residents and is located 12 miles south of Kansas City, Kan.
