The highest-rated release in Ernesto Padilla’s decade in the cigar business was also one of his most limited. In 2007, shortly before Padilla and José “Pepín” García of My Father stopped working together, Padilla released the 1932 Oscuro, a darker take on the company’s 1932 blend. It was limited to 300 humidors of 45 cigars, with each humidor containing 15 Robustos, Torpedoes and Churchills. In July, at the 2016 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, Padilla intends to resurrect the 1932 Oscuro blend. This time, production will be handled by Raíces Cubanas in Honduras, but perhaps the largest change, is that this time it will be a regular production release. Padilla told halfwheel he plans five sizes: Robusto, Toro, Double Torpedo, Perla (4 1/2 x 46) and a Lancero (7 x 38). Pricing is expected to be between $8-10 per cigar. As for the blend, it will once again be a Nicaraguan puro with a high-priming wrapper and fillers from AGANORSA.
