Scranton, Pa. Establishes Smoke Free Parks

The Scranton City Council unanimously passed a ban on smoking and the use of all tobacco products for its city parks during its meeting on Wednesday night, with the ban expected to go into effect by the end of the month. Anyone caught with tobacco in a city park can be hit with a $25 fine, according to WNEP-TV, adding that city police will handle enforcement. Located in the northeastern part of the state, Scranton is the sixth-largest city in the state, with a population of 76,089, though its metro area population numbers nearly 570,000 people.
