La Sirena Bringing Merlion Maduro to IPCPR

La Sirena has confirmed plans to have a new cigar available this summer, as the company is finalizing the Merlion Maduro, which will debut at the 2016 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show in July. The Merlion Maduro replaces the original Merlion’s Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper with a Mexican San Andrés maduro leaf, while leaving the Brazilian Sumatra binder and Brazilian, Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers in tact. Danny Ditkowich of La Sirena told halfwheel that the cigars are ready, having been rolled at La Aurora’s E. León Jimenes Tabacalera in the Dominican Republic, though the boxes are still being produced and may end up causing a delay in getting the cigar onto retail shelves. Ditkowich said that the goal is to have the cigars shipping to retailers immediately after the trade show in July, but box production could push their arrival back a bit. When they are ready, they will feature a purple and white color scheme that is the inverse of the packaging of the original Merlion, which debuted in 2012.
