Add the Boston suburb of Norfolk, Mass. to the list of more than 100 municipalities that have increased the minimum age to purchase tobacco products to 21-years-old, as the town’s Board of Health voted unanimously in favor of the change on Tuesday. The change goes into effect on June 1, and it will be retailers who will face fines for violating the new law. A first violation within a two-year period will cost $100, while a second is $200 and comes with a license suspension for seven days, according to the Sun Chronicle. Retailers who commit additional violations could lose their tobacco sales license. Norfolk had a 2010 population estimate of 11,227 people. The town is located approximately 22 miles southwest of Boston.
