At last year’s Procigar Festival, Quesada introduced one of its most ambitious cigars to date, the Reserva Privada. Now there’s a follow-up. Today, the company showed off the Reserva Privada Oscuro, a cigar that uses the same internal blend as the original cigar, but with a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper instead of an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper.This includes the vintage Dominican criollo binder from 1997 and Dominican Pennsylvania ligero fillers. The cigar will come in three sizes. There will be 1,400 boxes of Toro (5 5/8 x 54, $13.95) and Double Corona (6 1/2 x 46, $12.95) produced. In addition, there’s a Robusto (4 3/4 x 52, $12.95) that is being produced exclusively for members of the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA). The TAA is a group of around 80 retailers who meet annually to discuss issues facing the premium cigar industry as well as to hold a trade show with select manufacturers. In recent years, various retailers have made special cigars for the members of the TAA, including Quesada. Only 750 boxes of Reserva Privada Oscuro Robusto are being made for TAA members.
