Habanos S.A. has announced that Leopoldo Cintra González is the company’s new commercial vice-president. The announcement comes less than a month before the annual Festival del Habano, which begins March 1, the company’s most important event. The role will see him oversee the distribution and marketing of Cuban cigars around the world. Cintra González replaces Jorge Luis Fernández Maique, a longtime Habanos executive, who was dismissed last summer. Prior to his new role, Cintra González served as the director of control and sales management for Habanos and was the commercial director for Habanos Nordic AB, the Swedish distributor for Habanos S.A. This is the second new executive appointment for Habanos S.A. in recent months. In December, Borja Casanova Bustillo succeeded Antonio Pascual García as the company’s chief financial officer.
