My Father Slates Garcia y Garcia for February

For the last few months, My Father Cigars has hinted about a new release for the company’s portfolio, Garcia y Garcia. It’s named after the duo behind the cigars blending: José “Pepín” García and his son, Jaime García. As for the cigar, it will be offered in a 6 3/4 x 54 size using an Ecuadorian habano rosado wrapper, Nicaraguan criollo 98 and Nicaraguan fillers, including pelo de oro. Pelo de oro, which translates into golden hair, is known for its unique golden color and the difficulties associated with growing it. The tobacco has been banned in Cuba due to its propensity to attract mold, but it’s grown in a few places outside of the island, including the García’s farms in Nicaragua. Cigar Insider first reported news of the cigar. Janny García, vp of My Father Cigars, Inc., told halfwheel the company hopes to have the first shipment in February. García also confirmed that it will be the most expensive cigar in the company’s history, meaning that it will cost at least $23 per cigar. While the cigar will be limited in production, it’s not a limited edition. García indicated that distribution will be limited and the cigar will only be available in selected retailers. ...
