A five block by two block section of Littleton, Colo. could soon become an unwelcoming place to smokers and users of electronic cigarettes, as the city council gave its initial approval to the idea on Tuesday night. If the idea sounds familiar, it’s for good reason as Boulder has been steadily expanding the areas where smoking is banned in its downtown area, while Golden put a similar ban in place at the beginning of 2015. As it is currently written, smoking would be banned on building rooftops but allowed in parks, open spaces, alley ways and parking lots an inconsistency that doesn’t sit well with some, according to the Denver Post. The council is scheduled to take a final vote on the ban on Sept. 1. Littleton is home to nearly 45,000 residents and is located 10 miles south of Denver.
