The smallest county in Maine is taking a big step in anti-tobacco policy, as the Sagadahoc County Board of Health has announced that as of Sept. 1, all tobacco use will be prohibited on county property. The ban applies inside any county owned or leased buildings, as well as within county vehicles, all outdoor county government owned and leased properties, including parking lots, and even within personal vehicles parked on county property. The ban covers both smoked and non-smoked tobacco products as well as electronic cigarettes and other nicotine delivery devices. Sagadahoc County has a population of just over 35,000 people. The county seat of Bath is located about 30 miles northeast of Portland.
