More than three years from when it was first announced and nearly a year from its scheduled release to retail, the Carpe Noctem from Emilio Cigars has finally found a home: Smokin’ Joe’s and Old City Cigar in Alcoa, Tenn. Cody Hicks of Smokin’ Joe’s confirmed to halfwheel that the store recently came to an agreement to buy all 275 boxes of the cigar that were made: 100 boxes of the Robusto (5 x 50), 75 boxes of the Toro (6 x 50) and 100 boxes of the 6 x 60. All three sizes come in 21-count boxes, and Hicks told halfwheel that the cigars will have a bit lower pricing than the $9-10 pricing they were originally announced with: the Robusto will sell for $163 per box, the Toro for $169 and the 6 x 60 for $175, bringing the single stick price to around $8. With the cigars in transit to the store, Smokin’ Joe’s is accepting orders via its website, with the cigars also available in their brick-and-mortar locations. The cigars were made at A.J. Fernandez’s Tabacalera Fernandez S.A. in Nicaragua, and became known for being Emilio’s fullest release to date, with a blend of Pennsylvania broadleaf for the wrapper and Nicaraguan binder and filler.
