This year’s big release for Tatuaje Cigars is one that’s not new, rather it’s Verocu. It’s a line that was first introduced in 2007 as a stronger, limited version of the company’s Havana VI. Verocu became more than just a collection of limited cigars in 2010 when the Verocu No.5 (4 x 40) was released as a regular production item, but Pete Johnson of Tatuaje Cigars has indicated for the last year or so that he planned to expand Verocu so that it could be its own standalone line. On Monday, the company will begin shipping five new vitolas to retailers ahead of the IPCPR Trade Show & Convention. While the Verocu No.5 is offered in 50-count cabinets, the new sizes will come in boxes of 20. They are Verocu: No.1 (6 1/4 x 52, $10), No.2 (5 1/2 x 54, $10), No.3 (6 x 46, $9), No.4 (5 1/4 x 50, $9) and No.9 (4 1/4 x 49, $8). Earlier this year, Johnson previewed the Verocu No.3 at a couple of events. The Verocu blend uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers.
