Starting today, you won’t see tobacco products in store windows of cigar shops in the U.K. Rules set by The Tobacco Advertising and Promotion Regulations 2011 ban the display of tobacco products or tobacco advertising in “specialist shops” on April 6, 2015. For cigar shops in the U.K. it will mostly affect the windows, while the newest set of rules will have little effect on larger retailers, where tobacco has not been on public display since 2012. Specific exemptions and rules have been written for cigars and pipes, including permitting humidors, sampling and allowing for a bit more detailed price tags, something that is highly regulated when it comes to cigarettes.
