If might sounds like your favorite primetime singing competition, but the new La Flor Dominicana TAA 47 will result in a cigar, not a record deal. At next month’s Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA) meeting and convention, the company will present three different cigars as potential options for the company’s TAA exclusive cigar for the year. Retailers will be asked to cast their votes by placing tentative orders for each of the three cigars, but with the understanding that only the cigar that receives the most orders will be placed into production and as such the two other orders cancelled. Each of the three cigars use an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, Mexican binder and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic. The three sizes are: 5 1/2 x 52, 6 x 60, and a 6 1/2 x 54 box-pressed torpedo. The names, La Flor Dominicana TAA 47, comes from the fact that this is the 47th annual meeting and convention for the organization. La Flor Dominicana says that the winning blend will be put into production and ship within 45 days of the convention and meeting, which takes place April 12-16 in Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic.
