A new smoking ban could be in place for all 130 acres of parks in the city of Kennesaw, Ga. by the end of the month, as a public hearing and vote has been scheduled for August 18 by the Kennesaw City Council. The city’s current smoking ban, which was enacted in 2004, creates areas in parks where people are allowed to smoke and use tobacco products. If this proposal gets passed, all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, would be banned in all areas of city parks. The city council previously took up the issue in 2013 but was met with resistance from residents and subsequently tabled. Councilwoman Cris Eaton-Welsh told the Marietta Daily Journal that this version is completely different from that one. Kennesaw is located about 30 miles northwest of Atlanta and has a population of approximately 31,000 residents.
