The latest cigar from the East India Trading Company, the Classic Cigar Havana Blend, has begun to arrive in stores on schedule with the company’s promise to have it shipped shortly after the 2014 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show. The cigar uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper and a blend of proprietary Nicaraguan fillers, with some 20 blends considered before a final version was settled on. In a press release at the time of the cigar’s announcement, Juan Lopez, national sales director for Gurkha, said that “after a few years of searching for the right wrapper and combination of tobaccos, we created this beautiful San Andrés wrapped Nicaraguan masterpiece; we are very proud to unveil it as our best creation from the East India Trading Company yet. A cigar worthy of its name: A true Classic.” The cigar is being offered in four box-pressed sizes: Figurado (6 x 58, $8.99), Robusto (5 1/2 x 52, $7.99), Toro (6 x 54, $8.99) and XO (6 x 60, $9.99). Production is being handled by American Caribbean Tobacco S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua, the same factory producing the Gurkha Royal Challenge Maduro, which also debuted at the trade show.
