While all the attention in the Padrón booth at this year’s IPCPR convention and trade show was on a particular white humidor, the company had another release. If you read our coverage of the booth, you were told the Padrón Family Reserve No. 50 would be “on shelves in the coming months.” Turns out, it was more like a couple of days. Multiple retailers have taken receipt of the latest addition to the Family Reserve line, a 5 x 54 parejo named No. 50. Unlike many Padrón releases both the Maduro and Natural versions arrived at the same time. Oftentimes with the Family Reserve line, the company has shipped the Maduro first and offered it in much greater supply. Pricing is set at $25 per cigar, or $250 per box of 10. This release signifies the resuming of a naming scheme based off of the company’s age. In 2008, the company released the Family Reserve No. 44, which was followed by the No. 45 and No. 46. In 2011, the company released the Family Reserve No. 85, named after family patriarch José Orlando Padrón’s 85th birthday, instead of the No. 47. There was no release in the line in 2012 (48) ...
