E.P. Carrillo Finalizes La Historia Ahead of Debut

Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr. wanted to pay tribute to the men and women that enabled his family’s name to carry great weight in the cigar business, first with La Gloria Cubana and now with E.P. Carrillo. To do so, he crafted a cigar with a fitting name—Perez-Carrillo La Historia. It pays tribute to both his parents, wife and children—all of whom have had a hand in the company’s cigar business. It will use a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. It will come in three box-pressed sizes: El Senador (5 3/8 x 52), which is named after Ernesto Carrillo Sr., who was a Cuban senator; Doña Elena (6 1/8 x 50), named after Perez-Carrillo Jr.’s wife, and E-III (6 7/8 x 54), a nod to his son Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III, who worked for the company. According to Cigar Insider, pricing will be $7.25-$8.25 per cigar. The cigar has been previously known as both Perez-Carrillo and La Historia, but the release is in fact one singular line, joining the INCH C-99, Tuxedo Edition sampler and 5th Anniversary as part of the company’s IPCPR convention and trade show new releases.
