Felipe Gregorio has announced that at this year’s IPCPR Convention and Trade Show they will be showcasing a new Costa Rican puro made from pelo de oro Cuban ancestral seeds that are grown in the Cordillera Central area of the country. The land for the tobacco sits and approximately 3,000 feet above sea level, a unique feature that the company says allows them to grow in a pesticide free sun grown environment. The company describes the flavor profile as being balanced but full of pepper, with notes of chocolate, coffee, nutmeg and licorice. Five sizes of the Felipe Gregorio Pelo de Oro are scheduled to begin arriving on retailers’ shelves in August: a 7 x 55 churchill pesado, with an MSRP of $14; a 6 1/2 x 52 piramide, $12; a 6 x 44 corona, $8; a 5 x 52 robusto gordo, $8; and the short and stout 4 x 55 Stubby priced at $7. Each size comes in 25-count cabinet style boxes, with the line made at the Tres Tierras factory in Costa Rica. This is the second IPCPR release that Felipe Gregorio has announced, as the company’s Power line will be returning after a seven-year hiatus.
