In April, Epic Cigars began shipping its debut line, the Epic Corojo, roughly two months after the cigar was originally scheduled to debut. Dean Parsons told halfwheel his second line, the Epic Maduro Reserva, arrived at retailers in late May, and he’s not done. Next week, Parsons anticipates that the Epic Corojo Gordo (6 x 60, $9), the fourth for the line, will leave the Charles Fairmon Factory in the Dominican Republic and will begin arriving arriving after the IPCPR convention and trade show which takes place next month in Las Vegas, Nev. The two blends share the same internal components: a Dominican olor binder and Dominican piloto cubano, seco and ligero fillers. The difference lies in the wrappers: the Epic Corojo Reserva uses a Ecuadorian corojo, while the Maduro Reserva uses a Brazilian ariparaca. After five years of development, Parsons launched Epic Cigars earlier this year. He told halfwheel the company had pre-sold cigars to roughly 15 retailers before the cigars began shipping.
