Mombacho Cigars has announced that the company is expanding its portfolio with a new line of cigar called Tierra Volcán. The new line has been announced via the company Facebook page over the past week and today the company made the formal announcement via a press release posted at the bottom of this article. The cigars have been shown and offered to retailers across the U.S. for the past several weeks. The company’s Casa Mombacho factory is based in Granada, Nicaragua, while its offices are located in Toronto. Mombacho has been in existence for approximately eight years, selling directly to tourists who visit the factory as well as to select markets in Canada, Italy and China. The name comes from the nearby stratovolcano known as Mombacho, which means “mother of our islands” in the local indigenous culture, and Tierra Volcán references the fact that the land that Granada and the surrounding area sits on was formed by the volcano. The first known eruption dates back nearly 20,000 years. The blend is a Nicaraguan puro, with a sungrown Habano seed wrapper from Jalapa, Condega Criollo for the binder and a filler of leaves from Jalapa and Condega.
