Glynn Loope’s bow tie collection is famous within the cigar industry, now it’s on a cigar. Eddie Ortega and Virginia-based retailer Tobaccology have launched the The Glynn Loope Project, a limited edition cigar paying tribute to the executive director of Cigar Rights of America (CRA). “A few months back Brett (Fry), the owner of Tobaccology in Manasas VA asked me if I would be interested in working on the project with him, I told him I was,” said Ortega. The cigar is a 4 1/2 x 60 Nicaraguan puro made at My Father Cigars S.A. It uses a Nicaraguan oscuro wrapper, binders from Estelí and Jalapa and Nicaraguan fillers. Ortega described it as “full-bodied.” The cigar is limited to 100 boxes of 20 with pricing set at $7 per cigar. With each box sold, Tobaccology will donate $10 to CRA. Ortega indicated that both he and the retailer gave up profit margin in order to allow for the cigar to be sold at a low price and a donation to be made.
