Smoking in parks, motels and outdoor areas where food is served is set to become prohibited thanks to new restrictions passed by the Cambridge City Council. According to Wicked Local, the new restrictions will also ban flavored tobacco, blunt wraps and roll-your own machines In addition, Cambridge will become the latest Massachusetts town to raise its minimum age to purchase tobacco to 21. There are more than 20 municipalities in the Commonwealth with restrictions and an attempt at raising the purchasing age on a state-wide level was attached to the Commonwealth’s proposed Y2015 budget in April. But it doesn’t stop there, Cambridge will also ban the sale of tobacco at pharmacies, a movement that is also gaining traction in Massachusetts. Cambridge is located just north of Boston with a population over 100,000 people. It is home to both Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
