The Sandy Springs City Council passed a resolution at its meeting on Tuesday night that immediately bans the smoking and use of all tobacco products in all city parks. The change to the city’s Recreation and Parks smoking ordinance also prohibits the use of e-cigarettes. Mayor Rusty Paul said in a press release that “our parks are public spaces. Everyone, in particular our children, should have the opportunity to enjoy these outdoor, natural areas without worry of taking in second-hand smoke.” Sandy Springs is located about 16 miles north of Atlanta and has a population of just under 100,000 residents.
