Harrington Park, N.J. Moves Forward with Park Smoking Ban

The borough of Harrington Park, N.J. appears headed towards a smoking ban in parks, recreational areas and public buildings, as an ordinance was introduced at the borough council meeting on May 19 and have scheduled a public hearing on the proposal for June 17. The ordinance creates a 35 foot boundary from parks, playgrounds, athletic fields and courts, and municipal buildings, and carries fines of $50 to $200 for violations or the ordinance, according to NorthJersey.com. Harrington Park is a borough in Bergen County, located approximately 25 miles north of Newark. It had a 2012 population of 4,805 residents.
