Last night, Fort Lee became the latest place in New Jersey where smoking in public parks became illegal. A 5-0 vote will now ban smoking at parks and 35-feet from the entrances. Fines will be $250 for a first offense, $500 for a second and $1,000 for each offense thereafter. Fort Lee becomes the 240th of 565 municipalities in New Jersey to impose some sort of ban on smoking. Fort Lee is located west of Manhattan, it is connected to the island by the George Washington bridge. It has a population of 35,000.
