The borough of Woodcliff Lake, N.J., which is home to approximately 6,000 residents in the northeastern corner of the state, is expected to adopt a ban on smoking in parks and recreation areas at their May 5 meeting. The proposal was unanimously introduced at the borough’s council meeting on April 22, with an amendment to include the grounds of the Tice Senior Center added before the meeting adjourned. The ordinance enhances a current partial ban on smoking on ball fields, the Old Mill Pool, and school property, according to a report on NorthJersey.com. The report also notes that the ban, if passed, will be self-enforcing. What appears to be a portion of the proposed ordinance can be seen in the council’s April 22 agenda.
