La Sirena Acquires Old School Cigars

La Sirena has announced that it has acquired Old School Cigars. The move is in some ways a family affair as La Sirena’s president is Arielle Ditkowich and Old School Cigars was founded by the Holman family and Danny Ditkowich, Arielle’s father. Old Schools three lines—Jaxx, Jaxx LT and Stixx—will continue to be made by their current factory. Jaxx is made at Rocky Patel’s TAVICUSA factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, Jaxx is made by Plasencia in Honduras and Stixx at Quesada Cigars in the Dominican Republic. “La Sirena’s acquisition of Old School Cigars represents a natural fit. Both companies are New York based premium cigar brands featuring unique blends and a high level of cigar expertise,” said Arielle Ditkowich in a press release. Current inventory will be sold as is, but going forward the lines will be known as “by La Sirena,” i.e. Stixx by La Sirena. In a press release, La Sirena announced that it would introduce its third La Sirena line at the 2014 IPCPR trade show and convention in July.
