Fresh on the heels of the announcement that Caldwell Cigar Co.’s first three lines have begun shipping and that the formal launch party will be happening April 28 in San Diego, Robert Caldwell has announced that he will be releasing a second group of cigars, collectively known as “Selección Junior Varsity.” There will three blends released, Murcias, with a San Andres Maduro wrapper; Gibraltar, with a Habano Dominicano wrapper; and Sevillana, which uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut. Sizes in all three blends will range from corona to 660, and all will come in 10 count boxes with retail price pointsbetween $4.60 and $6.90 per cigar. In mid-February, Caldwell announced the release of The Caldwell Collection, which is his premium line. The JV line is meant to meet a different demand than that of The Caldwell Collection. Caldwell said that “sometimes you have to let the ‘b-team’ play–our premium lines feature the rarest tobaccos rolled by the most skilled rollers we could find.
