Kurt A. Kendall has decided to discontinue the 7-20-4 Spider, rather than fighting Iconic Leaf Cigars, LLC over the use of the spider branding. The 7-20-4 Spider was a 6 3/4 x 52 limited edition toro introduced in 2011. Last year, the company announced it would be entering regular production. Shortly thereafter, Iconic Leaf filed suit. “7-20-4 Cigars has built its reputation and sales by prevailing in the marketplace with unique and very extraordinary cigars,” said Rick Ardito, vp of sales and marketing. “We chose to continue doing what we do best there, rather than in a courtroom.” According to Kendall, the original Spider brand was created by Charles N. Hurd in the 1930s. Kendall, who is based in New England, brought back the New Hampshire-based brand two years ago. Kendall didn’t state how many cigars remain, but a judge has allowed them to close out remaining inventory.
