Ernesto Padilla of Padilla Cigar Co. and Sean Williams of El Primer Mundo have come together to release a new collaboration cigar called Doctrine. It’s a 6 x 52 toro that uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a binder and filler from Nicaragua. The duo aren’t disclosing where the cigar is being made, other than saying that it is being produced in Nicaragua. Doctrine is priced at $8.50 per cigar, with 20 cigars in each box. Williams told halfwheel that “a couple hundred” boxes are being made as part of the first run, adding that the pair intend to make Doctrine available going forward, with three or four production runs per year. They are also hoping that they will be able to add more releases to the Doctrine line; the R1 on the band stands for Release 1, and while FDA regulations make the future of more releases uncertain, they have at least set the stage for a possible R2 and beyond. Both Williams and Padilla are distributing the cigar, with fulfillment being handled by the latter.
