Black Label Trading Company has shipped the first round of its new annual cigar release, Santa Muerte. The cigar will get its full and official launch on November 1, which is known as the Day of the Dead and is the celebration from which the cigar gets its inspiration. The cigar is made at the company’s Fabica Oveja Negra in Estelí, Nicaragua, using an Ecuadorian habano wrapper and binder with fillers from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and the San Andrés region of Mexico. The blend is described as a medium-bodied smoke by James Brown, creator of Black Label Trading Co. and partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra. “We have gone out of the box on the Santa Muerte,” he said in a press release, adding that the cigar uses six filler tobaccos to create a unique and rich flavor profile. “You experience layer upon layer of coffee, malt, spice and cocoa,” he continued, noting that the cigar draws on a Day of the Dead theme, hence the November 1st full launch date. Santa Muerte is being released in two sizes, a Corona Gorda (5 1/2 x 48, $8.50) and Short Robusto (4 3/4 x 52, $8.50) both packed in 20-count boxes. Full production ...
