The use of all tobacco products and electronic cigarettes in West Lafayette, Ind. parks is now banned after the city’s Board of Parks and Recreation approved the proposal on Monday. The city crafted the ban so that it applies to “all facilities and properties owned or operated by the West Lafayette Board of Parks and Recreation,” something done to be sure that the ban grows as the city does. The next six months will be spent educating citizens and installing signage in parks indicating the new rule, according to the Lafayette Journal & Courier. Violators of the ban will face fines starting at $100 and increasing to $300 for repeat violations. West Lafayette is home to an estimated 32,109 people and is located approximately 65 miles northwest of Indianapolis.
