Stoughton, Mass. Raises Tobacco Purchase Age to 21

The Stoughton, Mass. Board of Health has unanimously approved an increase in the minimum age to purchase tobacco products to 21-years-old, joining the growing roster of cities and towns in the state who have passed similar increases. The proposal has been in the works since January, and when it came time for the public to speak on the matter, four people spoke in favor of the increase with no one opposing it, according to a report from The Enterprise. The increase is scheduled to go into effect around July 9, after it meets requirements on publication in the town newspaper. Stoughton is home to approximately 27,000 residents and is located approximately 17 miles south of Boston.
