The town of Parker, Ariz. recently passed a no-smoking ordinance for all of its city parks that will bring an end to lighting up in open spaces next month. Initially proposed to prohibit smoking at just one park, the Parker Town Council decided to make all of its parks smoke-free. Violators will be subject to a $50 fine and up to five hours of community service once the new law goes into effect in mid-June. A group called Teen Solutions of the La Paz Youth Tobacco Coalition presented the council with a petition bearing 350 signatures in support of the ban, according to the Parker Pioneer. Parker is the county seat of La Paz County, with an estimated population of 3,100 residents. It is located approximately 150 miles northwest of Phoenix and 35 miles south of Lake Havasu City.
