Next Wednesday, Davidoff of Geneva USA will begin shipping Art Edition 2016, the latest in Davidoff’s cigars made in collaboration with artists. This year’s cigar is made in collaboration with Jamican-born artist Olivia McGilchrist. Each box of Art Edition 2016 features an image from McGilchrist’s “from many sides” video, a digital project focused on the Caribbean and its people and history. As for the cigar, it’s a 5 15/16 x 54 perfecto using an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, Dominican piloto binder and a variety of Dominican fillers including: piloto visos, San Vicente mejorado seco, seco from Yamasa and a pair of San Vicente mejorado visos. It’s limited to 7,000 boxes of 10, half of which will head to the U.S., with a suggested retail price of $39 per cigar. A portion of the sales from Art Edition 2016 will be donated to the Davidoff Art Initiative, which includes the company’s residency in Altos de Chavón.
