Southern Draw Cigars is planning to have a pair of new petit lanceros at retail in the first week of July, as the company is adding a 6 1/2 x 40 vitola to its Kudzu and Firethorn lines. Both cigars will begin shipping on July 1 to all current Southern Draw Cigars retailers, with 5,000 of each blend being made available in the first shipment. A second round of cigars will begin shipping in September, with an additional 10,000 cigars available, bringing the total run to 15,000 cigars in each blend for 2016. The Kudzu’s lancero is named Axil, and uses an Ecuadorian habano oscuro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder from Ometepe and a filler blend from Nicaragua, while the Firethorn line adds the Pome, using a blend of an Ecuadorian habano rosado wrapper over a Mexican binder and Nicaraguan fillers. Both cigars will be made at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A. Each cigar will come in 20-count boxes and have a single cigar MSRP of $8.99. According to founder Robert Holt, the company isn’t planning on releasing any images of the cigars until they begin shipping.
