Last year, Peter Knogl received the highest honor in cooking: Hôtel Trois Rois received its third Michelin star. Earlier this month Knogl was in the Dominican Republic alongside another Basel-based operation: Oettinger Davidoff AG. For the first time, the company hosted its Tour Gastronomique in the Dominican Republic. The event series has taken place throughout Europe, seeing Davidoff partner with esteemed chefs to create a unique meal to go alongside Davidoff’s cigars. There have been special Tour Gastronomique cigars before, but now there’s a Chefs Edition that will head to stores. The Davidoff Chefs Edition is offered in a single toro size using a habano 2000 wrapper, Ecuadorian Connecticut binder and Dominican fillers including San Vicente mejorado seco, San Vicente mejorado visos, piloto visos and San Vicente visos. Davidoff describes it as “limited availability,” but has not expanded much beyond that. “When I first met with my colleagues and the Davidoff team to discuss the blend of Davidoff’s first Chefs Edition, it was important to me that every connoisseur would have fun with the product,” said Knogl, in a press release. ...
