The Wellesley, Mass. Board of Health recently amended its regulation on the sale of tobacco and nicotine products to increase the minimum age to purchase both tobacco and nicotine delivery products from from 18 to 21. The town joins more than a dozen municipalities in the state who have raised the age to purchase tobacco from 18 to either 19 or 21, and becomes part of a growing movement across the country to increase the age to purchase tobacco products. The amendment was voted on and passed on February 20 and will go into effect on June 1. It includes e-cigarettes as well under the title of nicotine delivery products, despite the fact they contain no tobacco. Wellesley is located approximately 15 miles west of Boston and has a population of approximately 28,000 people.
