On April 8, New Hampshire-based Federal Cigar will celebrate its 95th anniversary. As has been the case in recent years, Federal Cigar will host a special event celebrating its anniversary and there will be an exclusive cigar made. This year’s cigar is coming from E.P. Carrillo It features a Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and Nicaraguan fillers from Estelí. The E.P. Carrillo Federal Cigar 95th Anniversary measures 6 x 52. Derek Sells, general manager of Federal Cigar, told halfwheel that the wrapper was aged for an additional year and the binder has “significant age.” The cigar will be sold in bundles of 15 with pricing set at $8.75 per cigar. Production is limited to 200 bundles. In addition to the E.P. Carrillo exclusive, Federal will also have special cigars from other manufacturers. Pete Johnson of Tatuaje told halfwheel the store will also receive the Tatuaje Verocu Torpedo 10-count boxes. Johnson, his brother K.C. Johnson of L’Atelier Imports, Janny García of My Father Cigars and Steve Saka of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust are expected to be in attendance.
