The Turrent name will soon be occupying more shelf space in retail humidors, as the company has announced a pair of new lines that are scheduled to begin shipping by the end of February, Casa Turrent Serie 1942 and Casa Turrent Serie 1973. Casa Turrent Serie 1942, named for the birth year of Alejandro Turrent’s father, uses a Mexican San Andrés negro colorado wrapper grown by the company, with a San Andrés criollo leaf for the binder and a filler blend of San Andres criollo, San Andrés negro and Nicaraguan tobacco. Turrent calls it a medium to full bodied cigar that is spicy without being aggressive, and offers more complexity that the Serie 1901 line, which was released last year. The Casa Turrent Serie 1973, named for Turrent’s birth year, uses a criollo wrapper and binder from San Andrés, while the filler is a blend of San Andrés criollo and Nicaraguan leaves. It’s more of a medium-bodied cigar, the smoothest and richest ins sweetness of the trio, says Turrent.
