Cigar bars are still welcome in Anniston, Ala. Yesterday, the Anniston City Council voted 3-1, with one abstaining, to not remove the cigar bar exemption in the city’s smoke-free ordinance. Currently, there’s a planned cigar bar for the city which is expected to open in the next year. In order to qualify as a cigar bar, it will need to generate 50 percent or more of its revenue from the sale of cigars on site and from humidor rental fees. In addition, it will need to keep at least $50,000 worth of cigars in inventory. Anniston is located 65 miles east of Birmingham and has a population of nearly 23,000 residents.
