Later this month, La Aurora will release two new cigars paying homage to when the 113-year-old company first began working with the types of wrapper used on each. The La Aurora 1961 features a corojo wrapper from the Cibao Valley in the Dominican Republic over an Ecuadorian binder and fillers from the Cibao Valley and Nicaragua. For those looking for a milder cigar, the La Aurora 1987 features a Connecticut shade grown wrapper over a Dominican binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Both cigars are offered in the same four sizes: Robusto (5 x 50, $5.50), Churchill (7 x 50, $5.75), Toro (5 1/2 x 54, $5.75) and Gran Toro (6 x 58, $6). Each size is offered in boxes of 20. Jason Wood, vice-president of Miami Cigar & Co., told halfwheel he expects the cigars to arrive by the end of the month, although the company has already begun to take pre-orders. Miami Cigar & Co. is the U.S. distributor for La Aurora.
