In 1912 when Arturo Fuente Sr. founded the Arturo Fuente brand, it was his son Arturo Jr. that he eventually planned on passing the company to. However it was his son Carlos that was more involved with the brand, and thus when Arturo Fuente Sr. passed away in 1958, the company was sold to Carlos for one dollar. Last year, 57 years later, Carlos Fuente Sr. celebrated his 80th birthday and the 30th year of production of his personal brand, Don Carlos. For that, two special cigars were released using his personal blend of Don Carlos: the Don Carlos Eye of the Shark and the Don Carlos Private Reserve. The Don Carlos Private Reserve is believed to be the latest of the Don Carlos Senior Blend, a special version of the regular Don Carlos which is smoked by Carlos Fuente Sr. himself.
