At its monthly meeting today, the Evansville Board of Parks Commissioners voted 4-1 in favor of a new smoking ban that will prohibit the use of tobacco products and e-cigarettes at the city’s 65 public parks. The city’s golf courses were spared, however, meaning smokers will continue to be able to enjoy a cigar in between shots. The ban goes into effect on April 1. Fines and enforcement policies have not yet been publicized by the board. Evansville is located in the southwestern corner of the state and has a population of just over 120,000 people, making it the third largest city in Indiana.
