As noted earlier, for the first time in quite some time, there were a lot of cigars that scored 91 points or higher and eligible for our top 25 list that do not appear below. A total of 38 cigars that debuted in 2015, or the last moments of 2014, were scored 91 points or greater and yet there’s only 25 spots. The 13 cigars that didn’t make this list would have been a decent top 10 list, but 2015 was an extremely competitive year for cigars. The difference between first place and second place: .09 points on a 100-point scale. Between second and third? Only two one-hundredths of a point after all four reviewers gave their own opinions. As there always is, there are some surprises and perhaps more so than any other year, there were some pleasant surprises for our staff. 1. TATUAJE TAA 2015 At times people will read the reviews of the Tatuaje Pork Tenderloin or Barclay Rex and reminisce on 2010 as the golden age of Pete Johnson’s broadleaf-wrapped cigars.
