The Quesada and Plasencia families are once again collaborating on the Quesada Keg Edition, a cigar blended to be paired with an Irish stout and enjoyed in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. The blend remains the same as the inaugural 2015 edition, which uses a dark Pennsylvania broadleaf wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and fillers. The distinctive keg packaging returns as well, with each one holding 21 cigars. Three sizes are being produced at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Nicaragua, a lonsdale (6 x 44, MSRP $5.95 per cigar), toro (6 x 50, $7.95) and toro gordo (6 x 60, $8.95). 1,000 kegs are being produced between the three sizes, split between 500 kegs of toros, 250 kegs of gordos and 250 kegs of lonsdales. The cigars are due on shelves in January 2016. “Due to the overwhelming success of last year’s keg project, we are excited to re-release the Quesada Keg,” Terence Reilly, general manager of Quesada Cigars, noted in the cigar’s announcement. “Most importantly, the blend and pricing remains the same despite the increased costs for tobacco and upgrades to the band and packaging. It’s a great cigar to celebrate a great day.”
